Seek Better Migraine Treatment
Most common migraines treatment plans don’t begin to approach the underlying causes of migraines. Fixated on superficial pain management “solutions,” the majority of most fixes prescribed leave patients sacrificing things they enjoy, dependent on pain medications, or suffering through migraines even after treatment. Those patients deserve better! Seek better migraine treatment.
Preventative Migraine Treatment
Typical treatments are directed at preventing attacks and alleviating them when they do occur. Does this sound familiar?
- Preventive medications must be taken every day, whether there is a headache present or not.
- Eliminating common triggers from one’s diet like chocolate, red wine, caffeine, and cheese
- Improving physical, mental and emotional health by exercising, biofeedback, relaxation, rest, and stress reduction
There’s nothing inherently wrong with these suggestions. For some patients, they’re enough to make attacks tolerable. Reduced alcohol and caffeine consumption and improving physical and mental health activities are all good things after all migraines or not. The issues for other patients however, is that they’re not enough and they eliminate things that someone might enjoy.
Once an Attack Strikes
The options above are geared toward preventing migraines. Not only are they far from 100 percent effective, but once a migraine attack hits, they’re useless. Instead, patients on the preventative track are left to pain management tactics like:
- Lying in a dark quiet room with a cold compress or rag on the forehead
- Massage or acupuncture
- Using visualization techniques to direct blood flow away from the head putting pressure on the temples
- Medications such as aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen, diflunisal, ketorolac, rizatriptan, sumatriptan, and ergotamine tartrate
Better Treatment Options
Other popular treatment options like Botox injections, prescription medications, and the latest fad treatment advertised in late night commercials don’t do enough to rid you of your migraines. Instead what patients can look for are solutions such as:
- SPG Block is an anesthetic applied to the Sphenopalatine Ganglion, a cluster of nerves at the back of the nose. SPG block is not an injection, the anesthetic is applied using a soft, flexible rubber catheter tube inserted into the nostril that provides immediate relief and can last up to three months.
- Epigenetic Orthodontics guide jaw alignment and remodeling to alleviate tension created from an underdeveloped jaw that has created malocclusion and a buildup of pressure on the head, neck, and muscles. Reducing and eliminating this strain for patients it is applicable for has shown transformative results in numerous cases.
